«Proteger y fortalecer la naturaleza es esencial para asegurar un futuro digno para todos»

Tras 5 años de investigaciones, este lunes el Panel Intergubernamental de Expertos sobre el Cambio Climático (IPCC) entregó su último informe, enfatizando que la ventana de oportunidad para asegurar un futuro sostenible para todos se está cerrando rápidamente. “Hay desde ya múltiples opciones, factibles y efectivas, para reducir las emisiones y adaptarse al cambio climático”, señalan los científicos.

¡La naturaleza es nuestro aliado para contrarrestar la crisis climática! A través del rewilding, conservando y restaurando ecosistemas, podemos aumentar significativamente su capacidad para absorber y almacenar CO2. Para lograrlo es fundamental recuperar las poblaciones de animales silvestres, en especial del huemul y puma que han sido reconocidos como dos de las 20 especies prioritarias en el mundo para la restauración ecológica.

Protecting and strengthening nature is essential to ensure a dignified future for all

After five years of research, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released its latest report on Monday, emphasizing that the window of opportunity to ensure a sustainable future for all is rapidly closing. «There are already multiple, feasible and effective options for reducing emissions and adapting to climate change,» say the scientists.

Nature is our ally to counteract the climate crisis! We can significantly increase their capacity to absorb and store CO2 by rewilding – conserving, and restoring ecosystems. It is essential to recover wild animal populations, especially the huemul deer and puma, which have been recognized as two of the 20 priority species in the world for ecological restoration.

As IPCC scientists have said before, «protecting and strengthening nature is essential to ensure a dignified future.»
